Let's take a quick look back at how the story has gone so far:
In FEED, the End of Times bloggers went on the presidential campaign trail, while learning more about the Kellis-Amberlee virus responsible for the zombie outbreak. This book was mainly about the political side of the mess.
In DEADLINE, the End of Times bloggers are learning to deal with their losses. Suddenly a CDC researcher shows up wanting help. At first the staff is hesitant, but when it seems someone is willing to blow up an entire part of town in order to get to the researcher, they agree to help her. This book was mainly about the medical side of the mess.
BLACKOUT picks up the End of Times bloggers and staff trying to get to the bottom of the Kellis-Amberlee virus story. Things have gotten more and more complicated the more that they learn. Trust me, I know what you're thinking if you've been reading along - there's really not much zombie action in these books! The zombies are more of a background, the real story is the human reaction to what happened when the virus got out and the intrigue behind it.
Just when you begin thinking 'Is Mira Grant serious?', Ms. Grant will throw something out that makes you do a google search and you find there's a lot of truth (or at least google-truth) to what she says in the book. That's some scary stuff! I don't even like to dwell on it or I may end up living in the far reaches of Canada with lots of guns and ammo.
If you enjoyed FEED and DEADLINE, you'll love BLACKOUT. Did I mention there's cloning and zombie bears?
