Martin just 'is'. Then one day he writes an essay about landmines and why they're a problem. His teacher challenges him to do something about it. So in the next month, he stages a concert benefit to raise money to handle the landmines. Martin is very smart and a little smart-alecky, which comes off as a real 17 year old boy.
The book was a little confusing for me at first, maybe because it jumps right in and you have to figure it out a bit, maybe because it's like a diary. But it does have beautiful quotes and artwork. The story did seem to end rather abruptly, leaving you wanting more. It's okay though, the author did his job well.
I love music and this book was just right for me. Looking forward to reading this soon! :)
