Girls are tested at age sixteen to see if they know how to weave the fabric of reality.  Adelice's parents know she can do it, they've trained her NOT to do it.  But during her testing she slips up and they see that she knows.  She's taken by force to become a Spinner.

This is a really interesting world and you do have to pay attention.  The story delves into the stories of the Three Fates.  Women are also looked at as second class citizens and expected to always look perfect in hells and makeup.  Boys and girls are kept separate.

Adelice starts out as a fairly simple girl, doing exactly what she's told, until she learns her way around and becomes a bit more devious.

There's a bit of a love triangle, but it seems to resolve itself.  Jost and Erik are really different (of course) but seem to tolerate each other.

I'm interested in seeing where this series goes.
